Is Britney Spears a repeat offender?

TMZ has obtained video of Britney Spears leaving a Toys 'R Us with her baby. As she closes the door, she has the baby on her lap. The question: Was the child in a car seat once the vehicle began moving?

An employee of the Toys 'R Us in Porter Ranch, Calif., a suburb of Los Angeles, told TMZ that Spears and her assistant were there on January 15 to purchase a car seat and a stroller. The employee told TMZ the manager installed the seat in the assistant's vehicle.

Since the windows are heavily tinted, it's unclear what Spears did once inside the vehicle. But as the door shuts, the baby is clearly on her lap, and not in a car seat.

The Toys 'R Us employee did not know if his manager removed an old car seat before installing the new one. If he did not remove an old one, it raises the question -- how was the baby secured on the ride to the store?

Earlier this week, Spears drove in Malibu with her son, who was sitting unrestrained on her lap. The incident is under investigation by the LA County Department of Children and Family Services.

Britney grew up in the south. Her daddy probably used to let her sit on his lap in the pickup when she was a baby. Y'know, back when they didn't have car seats and you'd see cars driving with a whole passel jumping around in the back seat (or riding in the backof the truck bed). Dumbass.

I take exception to that Mrs. Dark considering part of my large extended Cajun family lives in the same parish that Twitney grew up in. Even out there in the ancient years of the early 80s when she was a baby you didn't do that.

I think this is a Brit-Brit doing what she wants thing without any regard for the law or safety or anything else. Always figured eventually we'd see some monsterously bad parenting out of her.

Exactly! They are the best things out there and the baby I feel is safer if you should trip. I know when I am chased by the pop that I can cover him up quicker so they can't take a picture plus when I run, I don't have to worry about dropping him
