Nick Lachey defends his sad new single, "What's left of me"
Singer NICK LACHEY has hit out at criticism his melancholy new single is cashing in on his recent split with wife JESSICA SIMPSON.
The couple parted at the end of last year (05) and Lachey is furious that WHAT'S LEFT OF ME - his first release since the Thanksgiving estrangement - has been so misunderstood.
In the track he laments, "I watch my life pass me by in a rearview mirror/ Stuck in the shadow of my mistakes… Now I'm broken and I'm fading/I'm half the man I thought I would be."
But Lachey insists the emotionally-charged lyrics are not meant to manipulate public sympathy or cash in on his imminent divorce from the blonde beauty.
He tells Teen People, "Obviously, people will listen to it and draw their own conclusions, and I can only speculate on what those may be.
"But it's not about looking back. It's about making the best of what's there and moving on."

What that really means: "When I was sitting around pouting over my ex it was a song about missing her", "But now that I've got a sex life and remembering what a dipshit my ex was, it's about *moving on* with life!"

Didn't she do everything in that marriage to cash in? Didn't she have
TV cameras in her house, following them around all the time?
I think they both cashed in.

I'll batten down the hatches and lash the children to the wall in anticipation of the tsunami of suck that would result from a Maniston single

yeah could he not just start male modelling full time and ditch the singing? i mean its not like he was ever good at it. Personally i dont think i could name not one Nick Lachey song.
Newlyweds made them both cash in but Jess's dad was like the owner and director of it, so the whole Simpson family cashed in there, so if i was Nick i'd well be gettin in there right now and try cash sum in myself so i dont blame him if he is right now, cos i'd do it!

Re: Nick Lachey defends his sad new single, "What's left of me"
I wish that Nick would cash in on his breakup, but in a more aggressive way. I'd like to see go on talks shows bemoaning Jessica's whoring ways, bashing her Dad, and deriding Ashlee's singing abilities. He definitely needs to give a "tell-all" interview to a tabloid. He might even write his memoirs, in which he could detail what it was like being mixed up with the screwed up Simpson family. I think it would be great if he could have his own "Bachelor" show. I'm just in favor of him doing anything to embarrass the Simpsons, because they are tiresome.

I wonder if he's under contract with Papa Joe to not release any of the Simpson family's dirty little secrets. I would bet that he is...

You're probably right. But he can make himself obnoxious in other ways.
