Ralph Fiennes labelled a love rat

"Twice he told me he loved me... He was already with someone. He was a cheat."

Fiennes allegedly left a message for Crisan two weeks ago (24JAN06), saying, "I want some physical contact. I might be able to see you. I may come to London in the next couple of weeks."

The 43-year-old HARRY POTTER star started dating Annis, 61, in 1994, despite at the time being married to ER actress ALEX KINGSTON.

Well, if you are with a man who left another woman to be with you, the chances are good he'll be unzipping for someone besides you after awhile. Quite frankly, I've just never gotten the appeal of Ralph 'Rafe' Fiennes.

) , but Ralph was HOT in The English Patient.

(i.e., that he was a two-timer behind Ms. Annis' back).

OK, Quiz Show was good but I hated the English Patient. So boring and so maniulatively obvious. OK, now start yelling people! I'm aware that I'm one of the few who holds this point of view. Oh, I hate Kristin Scott Thomas as well. *runs quickly from gathering mob*

Ralph Fiennes and his girlfriend of nearly 11 years, British actress Francesca Annis, announced their separation Tuesday, just two days after reports surfaced that The Constant Gardener was not a constant companion and has carried on a two-year affair with a Romanian singer.

"Ms. Annis confirms today that she and Ralph Fiennes are to separate," Annis' London-based law firm, Schillings, said in a statement. According to Britain's Mail on Sunday tabloid, Fiennes, 43, admitted to having an ongoing fling with Romanian singer Cornelia Crisan, 31, after meeting at a party nearly two years ago. "He was a cheat," Crisan told the paper. "He used me to be there always for him, whether he needed someone to talk to or wanted a cuddle or to make love.

"As time went on, I started to see more clearly, to realize that I didn't want him at all," she said.

For his part, the two-time Academy Award nominee denies ever having been unfaithful to Annis, 62.

"It has been a difficult time for the both of them, particularly as they have not even seen each other since the revelations broke," an unnamed source close to the couple is quoted as saying in the Daily Mail. "Seeing all their private details laid out in all the newspapers has made them both think about their future together.

"Things have not been good for quite a while."

Per Schillings, the veteran stage actress has already begun legal action against the newspaper for defamation and invasion of privacy over a story claiming she had forgiven Fiennes for his alleged affair.

The camera-ready couple first met in 1995 while costarring in a stage production of Hamlet, with the actor in the title role and the actress portraying his mother.

Both ended relationships in order to be together: Fiennes to his wife of 12 years, ER's Alex Kingston and Annis to her photographer husband, Patrick Wiseman, with whom she had three children.

Fiennes, who appeared onstage in Dublin Tuesday for the opening night of his play, The Faith Healer, had no comment on the split.

The actor will make his way back to London next week for the British Academy Film Awards. He's nominated for Best Actor for his work in The Constant Gardener, which nabbed a leading 10 nominations.
