Talking doll with Princess Diana's real voice

A talking doll of the late DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES is upsetting royal fans in Britain - because it features her real voice.

US toymakers TimeCapsule have manufactured 10,000 mini-Dianas, which speaks historic lines like "I'd like to be the queen of people's hearts" and "I don't sit here with resentment. I sit here with sadness".

British critics insist the doll is tasteless and disrespectful, insisting the stylish royal would never have worn the ill-fitting white suit and garish make-up that her doll likeness wears.

UK newspaper Daily Mirror has branded the doll "the most tasteless, tackiest-ever tribute to Diana", while Scotland's Daily Record newspaper labels it "tacky" and slams its "strangely disjointed ankles, garish make-up and unconvincing hair, it bears little resemblance to the late princess."

Two things really bug me about the Diana is Dead industry.

1. All those kitschy products in 1997-98 that claimed to be "tributes."
The word is "ripoff," people.

2. Those British and American tabloids have some nerve leaping to
Di's posthumous defense considering how they preyed on her in life.

I remember the Sunday after Diana died in Paris; I went to a
convenience store and saw the Enquirer cover story about Di:

That was the kind of contempt they showed for her in real-life,
lovingly preserved on a shelf. Now they pretend to defend her
honor, now that she died escaping paparazzi?

If there was any celebrity in my lifetime who really didn't deserve
the punishing scrutiny of the vampiric media, it would be her.
There's no way she could've expected the degree of media attention
she was in for. The media pushed her as far as they could, and
now they apologetically fake outrage that others are exploiting Di
in a "tasteless" manner?

Yes it's true the press preyed on her, but the Enquirer was pretty much supportive of her.
