Default Mr & Mrs Smith - the series?

ABC is apparently developing a television series to be based on the hit movie Mr and Mrs Smith.

The movie, starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, was based on the lives of two secret assassins married to each other unknowing of the other's career and made more than $186 million at the North American box office last summer.

ABC has ordered a pilot, which the film's director, Doug Liman, is expected to shoot, subject to availability.

It envisages the pilot will be ready for midseason 2006-07 or fall 2007 consideration.

There was already a failed series called Mr & Mrs Smith, staring Scott Bakula and Mario Bello, which had a somewhat similar premise.

Isn't it usually the other way around? That a good show ends up as a more or less crappy movie?

Ugh that movie was so formulaic and just a bunch of close ups of their beautiful faces. A tv show spinoff would be like water torture.
