Once a year when we go down to California to my BIL's for Thanksgiving I have Highballs before dinner. Or whatever they're calling Sierra Mist and Bourbon with ice these days. Lots of new drinks have come along in the last 30 years. We never had Jell-O shots for example.
Otherwise we stay away from the hard stuff. It's expensive in Oregon due to the Oregon Liquor Control Commission. We can only buy it in special state run stores with limited hours and selections. And the prices are jacked up. Thank goodness for our booming wine and craft beer industry!
