The Green bean casserole sounds gross.

I'm convinced that only 10 fruitcakes have ever been made in the history of western civilization and that same ten keep getting passed around.

Maybe she's a fruit cake collector and is trying to get them all

My parents just came over and we're going to start on tomorrow's meal. It's gonna be a small gathering with my parents, my sister and her husband (it's a long story). We're gonna have a crazy Thanksgiving meal.

    Turkey with jalapeno chive stuffing
Hashbrown and zucchini casserole (it may sound weird, but it is AMAZING!!!)
My trademark beefy lasagna (a normal lasagna topped with Italian sausage and prosciutto)
    Key Lime Pie
Vanilla Pound Cake with Orange Liqoeur Frosting (we have a thing for citrus)

My digestive system and cholesterol will be worse off with it, but I don't care it's all delicious!!!

And may all of you have a happy, great and noncombative Thanksgiving!

It was awesome today. For our department lunch we had a thanksgiving special. We deep fried (yes!!!) four turkeys and had homemade mashed potatoes and stuffing from scratch.

I was sooo stuffed, I had three wing sections.

    That was my thanksgiving.

I just don't understand where everyone is coming from with this whole "green bean casserole sucks" thing. It's one of the first things to go every time I cook. I could damn near make as much as the mashed potatoes. The only reason the mashed potatoes aren't the first thing to go is that I make a boatload.

I didn't know that it is celebrated in Canada, we might be moving to Montreal so maybe I'll get to try it, the food sounds great there too!

I totally agree! It must be fashionable to scoff at this year-or they don't like green beans. It is popular because it is GOOD. You will notice most people serve it,even professing to hate it.
People in other countries who have never had it-use the recipe on here and give it a try!

Maybe green bean casserole is a regional thing, because I like it too.

Me too. It's my favorite Thanksgiving food, with stuffing a close second.

    I made:

    Small (8lb) whole roast turkey
sausage-apple stuffing (I also add dried cranberries in, so good)
    mac & cheese
    corn
    green bean casserole
    mushroom gravy
    rolls

pumpkin bread or pound cake with berries for dessert.

I only started making it a couple of years ago because my son loves it and doesn't really eat potatoes.

The family is going all out for Thanksgiving this year. I can't even begin to name everything that's being made downstairs right now.
