I've never had a bad stollen but on the other hand, it's probably because they were always homemade and not stale!

Yes, there are a slew of fruitcakes at Wal-Mart.

And my mother also likes fruitcake a lot! Her alkie mom made them when she was growing up - with plenty of booze, probably. My dad told me just a few days ago that he remembers years ago when people always gave a "damn fruitcake in a can" every year. He won't touch them.

I know I've tried it before, but I can't really remember what I thought about it.

Store-bought fruitcake is vile. My stomach heaves at the very thought.

I make my own fruitcake and it is always gobbled up in quick fashion. The secret - no sugar. Fruitcake is plenty sweet and doesn't need sugar. Trust me. I don't put sugar in mincemeat either.

I love all fruitcake and stollen, good and bad, fresh and stale. They're fattening as hell, though, so I try to avoid.

Ugh, loathe fruitcake, but my Grandmother loved em, and was a big baker of them.

Too late now, for Christmas, but there are several places online that you can buy fruitcake. Harry & David, sites like that.

This place is in-state to me, and they have DIVINE desserts. My fruitcake eating mom is a fan of their fruitcakes. Be forewarned, they think a lot of them and price them accordingly!

That is exactly what I thought too!!

I hate fruitcake. My step dad loves it and always tries to pursuade me to have some with tea. I just can't do it. I can't eat cake the consistency of brick. Ick.

PS: I saw some at Wally World too, just yesterday. I'll ship some your way Soj!

I was seeing fruitcakes all over today but it occurred to me that I haven't seen a candy cane for sale in a couple of years. Where are the candy canes?

I was in Walgreen's the other day and they had almost an entire aisle of candy canes. There are so many flavors available now, it's unbelievable.
