I always wanted to try absinthe (I think it's illegal in the US?) - what does it taste like?

It's legal in Greece, but most places don't serve it, and you can't exactly buy it in supermarkets.

Actually, the first time I tried it, it reminded me of cough syrup!

Seriously though, it has kind of an anise taste-it's a bit sweet, and very, very strong. I had it on the rocks, and while I'm used to unmixed drinks, I'd say it had twice as much of a 'kick' as pure tequila.

I enjoy margaritas and mojitos, but when I'm out with friends and someone offers to buy me a drink, I get a vodka sprite or a coke with amaretto and grenadine.

Not quite sure what this is?

I like cosmos, but cannot re-create a really good one, like I had in S. France.
    Something differs with the ingrediants.

And, been wanting to try Mojito.

If you get a Mojito, don't get it just anywhere. This is one of those drinks that doesn't taste right every time... you have to get it somewhere that the bartender REALLY knows how to make one and isn't just reading it off of a list or it will come out tasting awful. I've found that he best place to order one is at a moderate to nice restaurant as opposed to a bar. The best ones in Houston are at Mark's on Westheimer. I saw that you're in Dallas. La Duni on Oak Lawn has great Mojitos... we were there not too long ago and of course I ordered one after hearing about their mojitos from a friend (all of my friends know that that's my drink) and I really enjoyed it. You should definitely try it!!

Any kind of nice drink that I can make using my very cheap and very strong 110 proof vodka that I get(for only $9.60 and 110 proof you know it is practically poison). I especially like it with crushed ice and lots of Guava nectar. Or something else with a very strong flavor like cranberry or grapefruit juice..that will kind of hide the VERY strong taste of the cheap strong vodka..which is so bad there is a really good chance I will puke it up immediately if I drink it straight.

other than that any diet pop will do..with lots of ice. and I like those iced cappuccino's at Tim Hortons. Blended Gazpacho (with or without some vodka added in) is a nice drink too.
Don't slap me, cause I'm not in the mood!

That actually sounds good, except the puking.
And the cheap vodka. How about some Skyy?

Is anyone from Europe know why the mixed drinks differ, for example a cosmo. I was drinking somthing called 'blanc'cosmo maybe?

It was a popular drink with a kick. And sweet, but not like *sugary* sweet. It was either white or rouge.
