    Prepare to be shocked.
    Hidden Names for MSG
I hate it too Beeyotch. They have a cheek hiding it under so many names.

I will occasionally buy a bag of plain tsp or tvp (textured vegetable protein - same thing). It is just soy. It doesn't have anything added.

The filler doesn't look too horrible to me. It's probably safer to eat than the low-quality, factory-farmed beef they mix it with.

I make oat burgers all the time with oats, bread crumbs, and spices. They're delicious.

^ It doesn't list it but it does have it in it. Which is why it's wrong. It tricks people into thinking the product is MSG free.
Contains MSG or Converts to MSG when Processed

I seldom eat it, so I'm not going to worry about it. At the rate I'm going ... no meat, free fats, dairy, eggs, alcohol, tobacco, or drugs (legal or illegal) with regular exercise and daily meditation ... I'll live to be a thousand years old anyway. I'll be begging for something to kill me at the end.

This is crazy. Seems that a person cant avoid MSG no matter how hard they try. First ramen, then beef jerky, then every other snack, whats next? Juice? They going to put it in subs and cheesesteaks next? Rack of ribs? Oatmeal? Do these things even need MSG?

    Most likely already there.

From what I can find, MSG is not an essential part of the textured-soy manufacturing process. However, it appears that manufacturers add it because they don't think it's suitably flavorable by itself. I don't think people are opening up a package of textured soy protein as a snack, so pre-flavoring it with MSG seems kind of unnecessary.
