It's a type of green cabbage. It's less dense and more leafy than ordinary cabbage.

Okay, I'm game. How much ACV do you use, how much V-8 juice and how many bouillon cubes?

I used about three cubes (one mushroom), about a tbsp of vinegar, 1 can of V8 (small), and about 8 cups of water. I made a LOT. I used one big can of diced tomatoes, about five medium beets, 4 big carrots, 3 big potatoes, 1 small cabbage, 1 big onion, 4 cloves of garlic, a big bunch of parsley -- I just eyeball it, really. The original recipe called for chicken or turkey.

I based my variation on this: Ukrainian Borscht a la Ostroushko This is a very authentic recipe.

Pizza with a ceasar salad on the side is on the menu tonight.
Healthy, right? I'd pick my mom's borsht over this anyday.
I don't even think I want to try making my own soup. I want to but I don't think I will.

Tonight was Denny's, so much for being back on my diet today. I hate it when I come home for the weekend and find out no one bothered to get groceries for the last week.

Tomorrow night is when I celebrate valentine's day w/the bf so it's going to be thai food at a really great, small restaurant in the area.

Mmm Thai. Enjoy your Valentine's day with your boyfriend. Try and stay out of trouble.

I'll try...although the restaurant doesn't have a liquor license so I suppose that will make it easier to stay out of trouble

Awww. Not even some sort of wine? Maybe you two can pretend you're in highschool all over again and swing by a vender on the way over then sneak the alcohol into the restaurant and have yourself a party for two! Small businesses are usually good with stuff like that.

I'm OK without the wine, I'm not a big drinker anyway. If we really wanna drink there are a few more upscale bars in the area anyway that we can hit afterwards.
