Of course I put garlic, effie! I put a ton of garlic. I just meant that that is my way of dealing with the excess water from the cucumber!

Your wish is my command, Mel:

    Greek recipes

I am sure we can offer low calorie alternatives, Effie! Greek food can be pretty low cal and healthy if you don't drench everything in olive oil.

There are 120 calories in a tablespoon of olive oil. I am not saying not to use any but if you overuse it you are making calorie bombs. AndI just don't like the taste of excess olive oil. I feel like it sticks at the back of my throat.

Olive oil isn't fattening, it's the stuff you fry in it.

Olive oil is in itself fattening. It's an oil, it's pure fat and has high calories. It is, however, better for your heart than lard, butter or most other oils. I have read that it's best not to be used for frying because it has a fairly low smoking point. Dunno, I rarely deep fry stuff and in my family we've always used olive oil for frying without any serious effects.

Canada doesn't look much better. I was about to say all the English-speaking countries have mostly junk on their table. The Germans are a tad meat-centric, but better than the English-speaking countries.

I suppose that is better than junk in the trunk.

I'm going to do a grocery shop tonight. I generally do two weeks at a time, supplementing with fresh fruit and veggies as needed. I'll try to unload and take a picture and post so you can judge me
