The USA family has me cringing. No fresh fruit, but damn sure stocked up on 2 large pizzas, McDonald's fries & soda, Burger King soda, KFC meal, Taco Bell meal, a shit load of chips, and a case of Budweiser.

Most of the people I know who really eat like this are a lot fatter than this family.

Yeah all the soda and chips in a lot of the western first world countries is alarming. That shit is bad news, expensive and full of crap sugar.

It's strictly water, coffee, tea, booze and juice for me. And that's only cranberry juice for mixers. Any kind of chips aren't even allowed in the house on account of Mr. B not being able to control himself from eating a whole bag in one sitting.

We're guilty of the pizza and restaurant meals though.

The Indian household looks like the best one, and the one I'd most like to have dinner at. The Chad one is very humbling to our western super consumerist tendencies. They have so little compared to everyone else.

Hold on! I believe I see a couple of bunches of grapes in the US collection. They are strategically placed next to the tomatoes.

I don't get the amount of pop (soda) most of these people drink in ONE WEEK. I buy a case of 7up (case of 12) for my son and it takes him forever to finish it.

The amount of bread is unbelievable, too. I'm 100% Italian and there were 6 of us in our family and I don't ever recall my mom needing to buy 11 LOAVES of bread for ONE week. I mean, we love our bread, but that's insane.

For most of these families, I was surprised at the quantity of food and wondering if they were hosting a party or something. This looks more like our grocery haul for a month, not a week.

I'm pretty sure I haven't had as much regular soda in my entire life as that family bought for one week. For that many calories, it better get me wasted.

I was listening to a diet/exercise guru the other day and ignored most of it because he was trying to sell his "revolutionary" diet plan but one thing he said that struck me was that every single one of his overweight/obese clients drank WAY too much soda. It was the common denominator with all of them. The first thing he told them to do was just swap the soda for water but continue to eat their normal diet for a week. They all lost weight, some of them quite a lot.

I take it that they pickled the same "social class" for these photos? They all look fairly "middle class" types to me.

i'd like to see some comparable "working/lower class" shopping carts.

A*O - did that include the diet stuff to? It says no calories on the side but you know that's not true!!!

Those Germans drink a lot of alcohol. I see more beer bottles than water bottles, which sounds about right.
