Gawd, I hope this trend catches on. Bliss = smoke-free and screaming brat-free restaurants.

"She said, "I have an autistic child and you are singling them out." and I said, "Autism is not a word on that sign, ma'm." "She looked at me and said, "I can't believe you even take him in public. You must be the only one who does."

jesus fucking christ, screaming children are all annoying, autistic or not. it would only be discrimination if the restaurant had a sign that said 'screaming autistic children will not be tolerated'. but it doesn't. all screaming children are the target.
that woman sounds insufferable. and really, comparing her kid to rosa parks?
it sucks her kid has a disability but if that means the kid is often screaming, how is it fair that other people should have to be subjected to the noise?

    What the restaurant owner said:

"I don't understand why she would be offended with the sign to start with. Just because mother nature gave her an autistic child or God, it's something she has to deal with... and I think she's really upset because that's what she was handed in life and I feel sorry for her. That's her problem. Sorry."
I agree, it's the mom's problem, and she shouldn't try to make it everyone's problem. I think I posted somewhere about how a mom with a 4 year old confronted me after a movie because I gave her a dirty look. Her kid literally ran all over the theater yelling and touching people and bumping their chairs. Because I gave her "the look" she hunted me down in the lobby afterwards and yelled at me because her son is ADHD (he couldn't have been more than 4) and had a medical condition, etc. Won't repeat all the details but the point is that some parents think that the entire world must bear the responsibility that they bear. My kid's disabled, so everyone in this theater or restaurant must endure what I endure.

Yup, There should be more restaurants like this. There is nothing I hate more is when you spend money on a good meal and it's ruined by a screaming brat.

I know that autistic children have no control over their emotional outbursts. But, as a parent you do have the option to eat at a million other restaurants that do not have a policy against screaming children.

The Rosa Parks comparison is over the top.

Love it! I so wish more restaurants would do this, I hate people letting their kids be free-range in restaurants. Especially the little ones who gets in front of waiters and waitresses carrying food and drinks. And the screamers, of course. Wee bastards.

Lord have mercy! I love this place. Long overdue. I never once let me child make a rucus in public and I don't think I ought to be the only one.

    I - LOVE - THAT - IDEA.

So fed up with screaming kids who run everywhere and behave like savages while their parents look tenderly (stupidly) at them. Behave your fucking children morons ! I'm fed up with having to endure their lack of parenting skills when it comes to how to behave in public.
