One of my college friend's mom would put all kinds of vegetables in her jello. It was disgusting.

I hate Jello but my MIL makes the BEST jello. I haven't been able to figure out how to replicate it (even though she gave me the recipe) but it's any red jello plus apple sauce plus cherry pie filling. I'm telling you, I'd eat that shit out of a trough.

it's true about old ladies and old school jello dishes. i remember a big lunch at my grandmother's about 5 years ago, she invited all her old lady friends and it was aspic galore. 2 of them were quite upset because they brought the same one even though they thought they were being super original by making cilantro aspic...

Look it's not like I'm vehemently anti-jello - Aussie kids are raised on Aeroplane Jelly but we eat it in weird ways like (shock!) with ice cream. So consume it in whatever way works for you.

But I will not stand by and watch while you call any of those monstrosities "salad".

i know! also, you don't do that to cilantro!

that shit looked something like this, minus the chips. old ladies don't put chips on their dishes. there was no celery 'forest' either.

I like Jell-o but with fruit only. And whipped cream. Lots of it. Putting veggies in them are gross.

My inlaws call salads made with lettuce, "lettuce salad." Anything made with Jello, mayo, or the ambrosia shit is "salad." Makes me insane.

Try this. Kids love it. Packet of Cherry jello, can of cherry pie filling, xlarge tub of cool whip. COmbine and mix. Call it cherry fluff. Total sweetness but kids love it. You could mix it up with any canned fruit/corresponding jello flavor. That will explode your MIL's mind!
RELIGION: Treat it like it's your genitalia. Don't show it off in public, and don't shove it down your children's throats.

I hate Cool Whip with a passion. I'm not sure I could ever convey my hatred of that shit, actually.

My MIL would probably LOVE it though so I'll pass it on. LOL

Jimmy and I grew up with cool whip but we came to our senses and it's ready whip all the way.

As the daughter of an immigrant, the first time my mom made lime jello, I remember being wary of it. Food, if u can call it that, shouldn't move!
