Oh I went to my nans and stole some of her mamite, a piece of bread and some butter to make a piece of toast with the tinciest bit of marmite. The Result.... Still tastes like birdshit, only this time it was on toast instead of a spoon!!

Vegemite is the Australian equivalent to Marmite (UK). They are the same thing, although they taste slightly different. A bit like the Pepsi/Coke thing.

this is how you eat vegemite.... toast a piece of bread so its really hot, then spread it with butter so the butter melts into the bread, then a very thin spread of vegemite! VERY THIN! mmm and its nice with melted cheese on top as well!

Vegemite/Marmite is DISGUSTING, smells revolting, can potentially stink out a whole kitchen and tastes so awful I thought it was beyond human description until another poster correctly called it "industrial waste".

LOL people have a very passionate Love or Hate relationship with Marmite/Vegemite. There is NO middle ground at all. A bit like Dr Pepper soda (Satan's urine IMO).

I like Marmite. I use it as a seasoning in gravies and soups - gives a nice rich flavor.

There has been a small tub in my pantry for about two years...I wanted to try it and ended up not liking it (too salty) so now I save it to use in recipes (which I have not yet done).
