You need a good spatula, patience and a delicate touch.

You have to make sure the bottom is well cooked before you flip.

If you're super bad at it, put a lid over your egg while it's sunny side up. Leave it on long enough it will steam cook the yolk to over easy, medium or hard.

My mom had a good method: use a small pan and enough oil so that you can spoon the hot oil over the top of the yolk. You can check done-ness by color (it should be a soft pink) and by the amount of jiggle so you don't overcook it. This way you don't have to flip it at all.

Not really. Appendectomy and peritonitis at 12, but this aversion started before then.

I suspect it's hormone-related, but I've never read any hard evidence on that explanation. Just like they don't know the exact mechanisms that cause pregnant women to have certain food aversions during pregnancy. They just chalk it up to vague "hormones."

^^^I miss eating them that way though. With fries or hash browns, or with minced beef on toast.

With toast used to be my favorite way. Or corn tortillas. What's funny is I can actually remember the taste being different and enjoyable when I was a kid.

It was like a whole different food than what I taste now.

I can't stomach the sight of runny egg yolks. Yuck. When I watch cooking shows and they get all poetic about the runny yolk I about want to vomit. I like hard boiled eggs in certain things, but I can't stand the smell. I won't cook them myself. It was horrible when I was pregnant. I only like them scrambled and in omelets. Cooked well. Nothing runny, gooey or soft. Yikes.

Add some goat cheese in with the pesto, tomato and basil. That would be amazing. I think I could sit and eat goat cheese with a spoon.

i love runny egg yolks - i eat a soft-boiled egg on toast most days - but not runny eggs, if that makes sense. i made a corned beef the other night for dinner. this morning, i chopped up some of the leftovers and fried them in a pan. threw that on my toasted challah slice along with my soft-boiled egg. YUM

I just posted a fabulous recipe that I've been using for a while now for breakfast enchiladas.

Every weekday morning, this is what I make for the family:

Daughter - scrambled eggs. Two egg whites, one yolk. Fat-free cream. and pieces of cheese mixed in.

Son - sautee low-fat sausage, multi-color peppers, and onions. then, mix with scrambled egg batter, and fry the whole thing

Mrs. Mohandas - same as son, but egg whites only and no cream.

I'll have fried eggs once or twice a week.

I see that alleged fat free cream in the store all the time and side-eye it.
