    I love soy sauce..
It isn't soy sauce. It's yeast extract ... a very dark, intense, salty paste. A little goes a long way.

It's an approximation.. I know what puke tastes like, I know what the consistency of tile grout is.

it's slightly funky, and i would think thats how puke would smell if mixed with tile grout and left in the sun.. a kind of slightly sour but mostly earthy flavor.

Not actually soy sauce! It just tastes like it to me.

i've had vegemite and the swiss equivalent (called cenovis). it tastes good but it's so salty. it's good if you spread a really, really thin layer on buttered toast.

Oh no, vegemite is some cultural and historical institution with a whole range of conversational taboos and social mores attached to it!

Tried it and liked it on toast and on celery with a little bit of cream cheese or cottage cheese.

    It's different but good.

It has now been banned in Oz prisons because the high yeast content was the chief ingredient in their home brewed beer

Yes, and that's the bit that always trips up foreigners. We used to laugh at the exchange students at college trying Vegemite for the first time, and lathering it on like peanut butter.... and then complaining that it didn't taste nice!

If a meat pie is shepherd's pie- I'm in. If it is one of those English pork pies that weighs 20#- I'm an ugly American.
