Eggplant. Have tried it in various recipes and just don't like it.
    Artichokes (see above)
    Grits (and polenta). Blech

For a while, my husband and I would by these bags of frozen edamame from Smart and Final, steam them in the microwave and season with a little salt. He and I would go through 2 bowlfuls a night. The store stopped selling them (don't know why), and we bought them for a bit from a local supermarket, but haven't for a while.

^^Constance, you and I are destined never to dine together. I eat some form of eggplant (usually baba ganoush) and artichokes every single day.

My BIL, from El Salvador mind you, makes the BEST eggplant Parmesan ever. Trust me, he would convert you.

I like eggplant, but I really didn't have it until I was an adult. My mom tried to cook it -- ONCE. I guess you are supposed to poke holes in it and she had put the whole thing in an oven. We heard an explosion a little while later. When she opened the oven door, it looked kind of like scrambled eggs all over the place.

My mom used to steam artichokes and then we would dip the leaves in butter. I love all things buttery, so I really liked it. I was grossed out by the heart, though. A couple of years ago, I decided to have it with my daughter. Mrs. Mohandas and my son wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole, but my daughter and I devoured it and split the heart. Good times.

I love artichokes. So yummy. I love eggplant, but only when it's fried or eggplant parmesan. My MIL makes a few dishes with eggplant and I don't like it at all. I do like some dips with eggplant.

You and me both. I love eggplant and I had the best artichoke sub last weekend at Penn Station Sub Shop.

How about foods that you hate, but your kids like?

Last year, I was at this novelty toy/magic shop at the beach with our kids, and they had this candy called Zotz. It's been around since I was younger than them, and I never liked it. It has a fruit-flavored, hard-candy exterior and a fizzy inside. Just on a lark, I bought some for the kids. My son liked it, but my daughter LOVED it. It's her favorite candy, now. Whenever I can find it at some store, I'll buy some and surprise her with it.

^^My kid has a real sweet tooth. She loves all the usual things kids love. Ice cream, cookies, chocolate, etc. She also loves fruit. Every single fruit she's ever tried. She's tried pretty much everyone that's readily available here. I'm not much of a sweets eater. At all.

I haven't seen zotz in a store in years. There's a website for old hard to find candy, its worth a look for nostalgic purposes.
