white, black, puerto rican/everybody just a freakin'/good times were rollin'.
"the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone"
My aunt always had Taverner's candy, I think they were called fruit drops. I would go to their place and would crave the things all the time I was there - and the powder that was left in the can was to die for. Miss them- anyone know where you can find them in Toronto?
These were the first things I thought of! Also, harkening way back to my time in Mexico: Gansitos.
They were like a twinky except fruit jam-filled and chocolate covered. I must have been only 4 or 5, but I even remember the damn jingle for the commercial.
*Gansitos, Gansitos, Hecho por Marinela!* Then the little baby chick would say in a cute little baby voice,*recuerdame* (remember me).
Best marketing ploy ever! That shit worked, because almost 30 years later I still remember it.
Holy crap! I knew I wasn't making these up! Certain color schemes around town remind me of these and I always ask my husband, "Do you remember those two toned lolly pops?" and he doesn't. This is one thing that reminds me being a young child. Do they still make them and if they do what are they called?

It's pretty much candies that take me back. To name a few:
