Mmm, I was just in Ottawa and hit up the Elgin Street Diner for some Philly Steak poutine. And in Toronto, it's definitely Mel's for poutine smothered in smoked meat. Unfortunately, the pics don't look as sexy as the other stuff in this thread though.

I grew up in Jersey and visit frequently and I have never heard of disco fries! What part of New Jersey has its own version of poutine?

Don't worry about what other people think. They don't do it very often.

If you're familiar with Cranford, there's a diner called Rustic Mill.
And there's some pizzerias and stands down the shore that do it by request

I'm just glad I didn't see this thread before I went grocery shopping, would have ended up making a detour at the local baker/patissier.

So. There's this place back home that serves HUGE tacos that are called Huaraches ("sandals" in Spanish)...

I'm so fucking hungry for one. I haven't had one in YEARS.

Hmm. I don't generally hang out in Union County or at the shore but I think I'm going to make a point of hitting a local diner and asking for disco fries the next time I visit the Garden State. Thanks.

Most diners in NYC have it on the menu, no need to special request it. Our verison of disco fries is brown gravy and melted mozzarella. Mmm, mmm, good.
