Her, Tia Mowry, Valerie Bertinelli...I think a lot of former sitcom/series stars are turning to cooking television. I stopped watching the cooking shows; they all started to look alike and sound alike. Did they cancel Brian Boitano's cooking show? They should have - it was like watching paint dry, and his Touche' Turtle voice is grating. But his house is great.

I dislike most of those sitcom stars' cooking shows because they try SO hard to be "on" and show their "personality" that it comes off as contrived and unnatural. Valerie Bertinelli is one. The one exception I've seen is Trisha Yearwood, she's likeable and has effortless personality for days.

I'm kind of over the whole competition ____ Wars thing (except Top Chef) but my 5 year old niece is obsessed (yes, that's the word she uses) with them. She's got the Christmas Grinch cake one completely memorized, and now when she helps my mom in the kitchen, she actually will ask for a "star tip" to decorate her cookies. It's the cutest freaking thing ever.

I don't watch any of the actual cooking shows on Food Network anymore. Ina is the only one I can watch. Bobby too. I don't like the "wars" shows either, but I'll watch Chopped, GGG, Beat Bobby Flay -- those are great background TV is you need something mindless on while multi-tasking. I hate watch Food Network Star.

You need to make 10,000 cupcakes in 10 minutes using three mystery ingredients and they have to taste wonderful, look fantastic and you have to build a display for them. Only "girls" who wear bows in their hair and dress very cutesy need apply, because that's who's going to win every week.

Ridic...I mean, they're only cupcakes...I think one of the contestants even had a website called "Cupcake Diva"!! What? Divas don't MAKE cupcakes, they hire someone ELSE to make them...

I haven't watched an episode in a while, but the thing about the bows in the hair is spot on, lol! I did enjoy watching the episodes where the adult bakers competed against kids and often times got their asses kicked by them...

Joey Fatone has a show called My Family Recipe Rocks. The few episodes I've seen were fun and casual. Don't think I grabbed any recipes, but i like Joey! Martha Stewart... I will watch any of her cooking shows.

Not gaga over the competition shows but once in a while get sucked into that British baking show, or the one where the kids bake. Kids amaze me!

And I love The Pioneer Woman , Ina , and Trisha Yearwood. Tiffany Thiesens show is fun to watch for her celeb guests.

My my question for everyone...is there a recipe or idea you've gotten specifically from a TV chef/cook that you now make regularly?
