Well, the US had a massive recall of salmanella-positive eggs recently, so if you were using that brand of eggs you might have cause to regret it. However, I can't get over that you put OIL in cake mixture

isn't that normal? well, vegetable oil at least. olive oil would taste disgusting in a cake.

^^yeah, lots of cakes call for oil; you can sub applesauce, though. and, i use 1/2 olive oil (and 1/2 coconut oil) in my pumpkin bread & it's really good.

also? i'm a raw batter & dough (egg-laden, fo sho) whore. i have to watch myself so i don't eat too much. *licks chops*

"normal" is butter (with sugar & eggs & flour or ground almonds if it's a tort), I can just about tolerate margerine (like stork), but only at a push & half of each at the most.

I made the mistake of using olive oil in brownies once, when I was out of vegetable oil. It was disgusting. I don't use olive oil that much anymore, though. A little while ago I had the flu and was told that two tablespoons of olive oil, straight up, would help. Foolish me tried it. Just the memory makes me want to gag, it ruined oil for me.

    Just get out the lard.

Had to do a demonstration speech in one of my high school French classes, so I chose how to make chocolate chip cookies. Made a batch the night before so we could all have something to enjoy. Demonstrated making the batter in the class.

Did not make it out the door of the school with one spoonful of batter. Word got out and I was stalked by people I didn't even know. And yeah, I had some too!

    may i ask why?

just curious because on another board i visit, there was recently a huge thread about eating other people's homemade food or eating at other people's homes; mostly it was cleanliness/food safety issues. until then, i had no idea SO many people we're totally skeeved out by other people's cooking. i even sometimes buy tamales from sweet little old neighbor ladies who come around & knock on my door to sell them.
