I am jealous, our csa boxes stopped in November and don't start up again until March/April. I guess even though we live in TX, nothing much grows around here until then.

    mhm. sounds familiar.
the fridge is empty except for a bottle of water. in the cabinets, you'll only find noodles & instant soup.
when a friend drops by, we usually go right out of the door again and head over to the nearest store to do some grocery shopping first.

csa is community supported agriculture...basically it's a box or bushel share of fresh, local organic produce that is either delivered to you or you pick up on a weekly basis. actually, i know lots of people who just do it every other week or get a 1/2 share weekly. ours switches up depending upon the season & what is available to our grower, but we normally get some kind of greens, fruits, nuts, onions & garlic (and tomaoes in the sumer) plus it's rounded out with lots of other stuff...but, we nearly always get those basic items every week. we pay $20 a share & i think it is worth every penny.

our grower also has free-range, organic-fed chickens, so we get our eggs from him, too.

i seriously love csa & the challenge to use up all of the veggies every week...it makes me be a better cook. use this site to find a csa near you.

i think that most are like that & ours is more the exception to the rule. we are fortunate enough to live in one of the best growing valleys in the states, so it's mild enough here to grow year round.

My freezer always has food, but the fridge can be empty. I have never had the problem that there would not be anything to feed to people.

But I'm a great cook and people come to eat my stuff often so I have gotten used to stuffing my cabinets with more food that I can eat.

Great thing that I do to assholes is that I go dumpster diving and get these thrown away buns and baked goods and then just reheat them before the assholes come to eat and watch them eat bad garbage stuff declining myself from the sweet stuff. And usually I hope they get some kind of germs from them. I have only done that twice and it is a secret.

Sad news. The closest csa to me is an hour & a half away! I am going to check in spring to see if a new one pops up. There is 1 near (sort of near) that only has goat milk.

I must admit to sniggering, though. I once served coffee to someone I hated in a cup that I'd pissed in.

That's terrible. I'm bothered by it maybe because I'm a feeder; food is a big deal to me and I love to cook and share food with others, meals together are very important to me. The idea of tainting something that another person is going to eat, to put inside of their self, for the purpose of nourishment/existence just seems so fucked up on so many levels.

When I'm pissed off at someone I don't fuck with their food; I unhang every article of clothing in their closet and leave it in a giant pile to get wrinkled, then I park their cars in tow away zones, then I send out a mass email detailing their fuck up to key people in their contacts list, then I go on a shopping spree with the credit cards they authorize me to use. Food is sacred, I just can't go there.

If we're confessing I'll add mine.

In my early 20's my gf and I poured some of our piss in a big bottle of Johnnie Walker Black and then watched as three people we couldn't stand drank it. We still laugh over it.
