cocktails look sooo beautiful (umbrellas, lemon slices) but i have never had one where i didn't gag on the overwhelming taste of alcohol. So any ideas on a cocktail for a pansy??

Amaretto sour, but it doesn't come dressed like the cocktails you're thinking of. I've never had one that tasted overly alcoholic in any bar, you can usually barely taste any alcohol.

An amaretto stone sour is amaretto (which is almond liqueur), sour mix, and orange juice. They're sweet and not very alcoholic tasting.

frozen strawberry daiquiri - it's like strawberry sorbet, you can barely taste the alcohol
have to be well made though, with fresh strawberries.

Sleuth-I am the same way! Tastes like Nyquil to me. But Pina Colada's are ok-tell the bartender you want it very light. I long to drink a Mint Jeulep in a frosty silver cup-just looks so classic! Can't. My mouth says "NO! Not gonna swallow that!"

Cape Cod sounds good SouthernBelle, is it just vodka and cranberry juice, or is it this recipe?

    2 oz sloe gin
    1 oz gin
    5 oz cranberry juice
    1/2 oz fresh lime juice
    1/2 oz orgeat syrup

Since you're Southern, maybe it's the one with sloe gin?
haha.. I don't use gin in these but I will have to try that!! I do vodka, cranberry juice, and fresh lime juice and then I rim the glass with lime sugar from Williams-Sonoma and garnish it with a lime. mmmmm

I like a Sea Breeze -- cranberry juice, soda water, squeezed fresh lime (to taste), plus slice, healthy shot of vodka. Very refreshing over a couple of ice cubes.

It's also good with pomegranate juice.

^I've started making popsicles with pomegranate juice. Yum Yum YUM. The popsicles never get hard like apple juice does. They stay very slightly slushy and taste absolutely yummy.

I made up this drink, or I think I did. An Australian friend asked for something like it, gave one to me and it was so refreshing.

He went back home and I couldn't recreate it, so I made it up. I tell the bartender the ingredients and leave them to do the amounts.

    Vodka
    Club soda
    Ginger Ale
    Lime juice
Slice of fresh lime squeezed inside glass
    Garnished with limes
Pour into big glass of ice.

Does it sound familiar at all?
