Well I can't imagine a vegan wanting to eat a pop tart anyway. Every once in a while I scarf one and my husband acts like I am shooting heroin. I mean....they are weirdly pink and speckled....I never thought they were HEALTHY!

Who in their right mind, vegetarian, vegan or not, would consider eating a Pop Tart in the first place? Let's talk about the sugar and chemical additives and preservatives before we even start on whatever traces of 'animal product' may be in there. Eat a slice of organic wholemeal toast with some organic honey on top for fuck's sake!

Yayy NoDay, I was just going to mention looking for Kosher certification! There are a few different Kosher symbols used, and you'd be surprised at how many packaged foods are Kosher once you start to look. (I had Jewish roommates for a while, it becomes second nature.) If it says "Pareve" anywhere on the package, then you can be assured there's no meat or dairy in the product. Shopping at a Kosher market can be one of the simplest ways to find vegan products too.

When I was pregnant with my son I had such horrid morning sickness 22 hours a day for the entire nine months that some days the only things I could keep down were caffiene free coke, hot tea, some soups, toast, soda crackers and pop tarts. They are excellent for when you're suffering from morning sickness or are extremely sick to your stomach. My son would have been born a stick figure instead of a whopping ten pounds had it not been for the sugary goodness of Poptarts.

Vitamin D is another thing to watch out for. Vitamin D2 is okay, but D3 is animal-based [most commonly from sheep lanolin].

Uh, I also eat chocolate poptarts very occasionally, with coffee. They're yummy. I eat a little guilt with them, but I manage to get it all down.

Passes choccie pop tart to Lo. At least we don't need sugar in our coffee when we have pop tarts

i like pop tarts too. i have 1 every couple months or so (ie not hyper regularly) but i'm sure they are no worse for you than french fries or another fried type food.
