Australian Blue Fin tuna is exported to Japan for top quality sashimi/sushi. They pay a fortune for it. The South Australian tuna fishermen are all millionaires now.
Because we eat it all
Not really. Aussie Beef and Lamb is sold as premium meat in the UK.
We also have a grain fed ( marbled ) beef industry that makes a killing in Japan.
Locally red meat is great quality. Thats why we consider the Backyard BBQ our national food - we have so much quality meat!

Edmonton, AB - Hardware Grill, Normand's, Bua Thai.
Banff, AB - Banff Sushi, if only for their shrimp salad hand rolls!
Sault Ste. Marie, ON - A Thymely Manner, Arturo's.
Toronto, ON - Umami (Kosher), 360 (CN Tower restaurant - mainly for the service and the view), Monte Cristo, and undoubtedly a dozen or so others that I have yet to try.

I love The Capital Grille Miami, Renaldi's Pizza in Chicago, and Wildfire in Chicago.
Oooh, Wildfire is good too, barbiedoll25. I forgot about that one.
There's also an amazing sushi place in Chicago called (of all things...) Planet Sushi. Cheesy name, but one of those hidden treasures of the city. It's about a half mile from Second City.
Several......
There was a place in Maui, but I have no idea the name of it. It was in Lahina. Drunk as a skunk, but really really good chow.
'The Hershey Hotel' in (ironically) Hershey, PA
Went to 'Emerill's' in Florida and had a really good meal too. I know it's a chain, but it was good.
And 'Dinosaur BBQ' here in Syracuse--just the best food in this area hands down.
The Italian restaurant in my neighborhood. I'm not big on Italian but this food is to die for, or steal for. I know a couple of teenagers who stole money to go to this place. Guess it can be addictive, crack cocaine of Italian food.
A chinese restauant in Liverpool called the Eastern Diner, its the fabbest restaurant i have ever been to ever, the food is just delish , cooked to perfection and really high quality stuff. its always busy but theres never any delays and everything is always so fresh and piping hot and the staff are lovely, i love it. oh my mouths watering now!
Years ago when I first went to NO, we went there and tried the Oysters Rockefeller.Originally Posted by UndercoverGator

Oh yeah, there was a restaurant in a small village outside of Luxembourg City. I don't remember the name of it, but they cooked Chateau Briant (sp?) in a net made out of chains, and it was wonderful. Wasn't too far from where we lived, but this was years ago.
Keep passing the open windows.
mmm i love restaurants. i spend so much money on food when i travel...
i love mercer kitchen (the best cod i've ever had) and firenze in new york, and this little french place on smith street in brooklyn. a friend of my mother's took me to megu and it was wonderful, much better than nobu. next time i want to try masa, but i need to find someone to pay for it!
here in geneva there's a little bistro near where i work that's cheap and unpretentious but the food is incredible... and in paris there's a tiny restaurant in the rue quincampoix called the quincambosse which is great, and another one nearby that has amazing duck confit for 12 euros.
when i lived in austria my parents used to take us to this family restaurant on the danube filled with drunken austrian families and foggy from the cigarette smoke where they made the best ribs. instead of plates each person was given this huge wooden slab with enough ribs and roasted potato to feed a whole family. yummy.
It's nothing fancy, but Texas Roadhouse in Amarillo, Texas, has the best steaks ever. I love me a big 'ol slab of meat!
A Thai restaurant called Mali Thai that closed about 15 years ago..but had the best Thai food I ever had before or since.
