    Default Popcorn!!

My friends kids were over and they had no idea you could make popcorn at home on the stove.

Anyway I taught them that stove top popcorn is far superior to nuked corn in a bag and takes the same amount of time. I have a Whirley Pop but I made it in a regular pan so they could bug their mom.

I think a big part of my loving popcorn is because it reminds me of my childhood.

When I was a young whippersnapper Sunday night was popcorn and Wild Kingdom/Wonderful World of Disney night. Good times!

So are there any home poppers out there? What's your favorite brand? I need to try the popcorn recipes in my Whirley-Pop book.

Ah! Me too! Except I seem to remember watching Little House on the Prairie on Sunday night too. I occasionally make it on the stove top. Orville Reddinbacher seems pretty good. The worst is this stuff:

    It burned and never popped.

I just made it on the stove today for the first time since I was a kid. When I was a kid we always used to have popcorn and I loved it.

It is so much better on the stove. Can I buy a popcorn maker?
    Fabulous!

My dad is a popcorn connoisseur. Needless to say, I grew up on stove-top popcorn. I like air-popped corn, too. There are significantly less calories since you don't use oil.

Whatever the method or kernels, you can't go wrong with Orville redenbacher's butter topping oil in a bottle. Just pour it over your popcorn, or even pop the kernels in the oil. Tastes just like the movies.

I don't think I've ever tried stovetop popcorn!! My mom really likes popcorn, and she used to put all kinds of toppings on it. Among her favorites were honey, lemon pepper, and orange popcorn salt. She also used to mix popcorn, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, peanut butter m&ms, and cinnamon to make a trail mix. She really enjoyed stale popcorn as well, and liked to eat it for breakfast.

We would eat popcorn, pizza, and ice cream on Saturday nights while watching SNICK.

Oh, I love to use this seasoning!! Also, I'll use any cajun seasoning on popcorn.

You can get the Whirley Pop at Target.

Oooh, what is a whirly pop? Must go google!

I love making popcorn in all ways. Microwave is easy but inferior in flavor, by far. Stovetop is soooo tasty but more fattening. My latest method is airpopping it and then spraying it very lightly with cooking spray, then a light sprinkling of whatever flavor I'm in the mood for, then shaking it all up. Who knows, maybe the cooking spray is killing me, but it holds the spice onto the popcorn, otherwise it'd all just slip right through to the bottom...

Salt has to be really fine to stick to the popcorn. I run kosher salt through my spice grinder.

    I heart my Whirley Pop.
