Default Looking for Christmas cocktail party ideas

My father-in-law has given up Christmas Eve and I was thinking I would take over and put my own spin on things. He usually does the whole Ukrainian thing with perogi's, borsht, and hulupchi (stuffed cabbage with barley).

My family is Italian and when I got married I went with my husbands side so I could still have Christmas Day with my family. I gave up all of the different fish dishes and was thinking of having a cocktail party with all different kinds of fish and easy Hors D'oeuvres. Any ideas?

Oh-this one restuant here does the most fab things-one shrimp, one jalapeno(seeded & cut in half.) Then bacon wrapped & broiled, coated with lots of barbeque sauce -you'd put the shrimp in between the jalapeno, wrap with 1/2 strip of bacon & broil on both sides-oh! with wooden skewer through them. They are devine-you'd have to get sone and practice to get the times right. Good hot or cold.

Oh god that sounds so fucking yummy. I went magazine crazy last week and got two good holiday food ones; I'll go through them tonight and get back.

Ummm Roquefort grapes is a good one a friend's step mother showed me. Some recipes call to slice the grapes in half but the one she showed me was smallish/medium sized red grapes. You can mix up really well 50/50 roquefort & cream cheese. Dry the grapes really well coat them all in cheese and then rol in super finely chopped toasted walnuts or PECANS (In Texas I think we put pecans in everything). They're really fucking yummy.

Anything containing shrimp that has been wrapped in bacon is great.

Come on, let's have lots of drinks.

Ok, here's a dip that my hubby loves, but it's not real fancy or formal.

1 roll of pork sausage (like Jimmy Dean)
    1 brick cream cheese
1 can or Ro-Tel, either hot or mild, your choice.

Cook sausage in skillet. Put in microwavable bowl or small crock pot. Combine with cream cheese and Rotel. Serve when hot and mixed thoroughly. serve with tortilla chips for dipping.

Make the artichoke and spinach dip in the recipe section. Watch it disappear!
