A New York restaurant that set a record this month for the world's most expensive dessert a $25,000 US chocolate treat has been closed temporarily by the health department after failing a second consecutive inspection, local news outlets reported Thursday.
WNBC-TV said inspectors saw a live mouse, mouse droppings, fruit flies, house flies and more than 100 cockroaches at Serendipity 3 on East 60th St.
The restaurant, immortalized in film and famed for long lineups, made headlines in early November when its Frrrozen Haute Chocolate a blend of cocoas from 14 countries, mixed with five grams of gold and served with a side of French truffles set a Guinness world record for the priciest dessert.
