Do you use canned foods?
Which canned foods have you tried and liked?
Which canned foods are horrible in your opinion?
I like most canned fruits. I'll eat them when I don't have any fresh fruit around.
I've been trying some canned seafood lately. I bought a can of baby clams, these were gross. My hubby liked canned smoked oysters.
I have a can of salad crab meat which I haven't tried yet.
Canned corn is pretty handy, good in salads, soups, stirfries, fried rice etc etc
I don't think I like any other canned veggies. I've seen canned potatoes, carrots and beans but they didn't look very appetizing...

Re: Do you use canned foods?
The boyf likes canned spaghetti by Heinz. He likes it so much he eats it cold!! Eurghh. Then again he also likes to put crumbled up chocolate bars in salt and vinegar crisps and give them a good shake so I can't really explain

Re: Do you use canned foods?
Canned tomatoes for pasta sauces.
Baked Beans (Heinz) a Brit thing, the kids love them.
Ummmmmmmmm that's it
Anyone who eats canned veggies soaked in salt and sugar and pre-boiled to death needs to wake up.

Re: Do you use canned foods?
I like to use some things like canned corn, canned chopped tomatoes, mushrooms sometimes, and also beans, chickpeas, condensed milk, coconut milk.. I try to use as many fresh veggies as possible though, but I do have a can stash in the cupboard for quick use.

Yes! Surprisingly I love canned tomatoes and use them for my pasta sauce in addition to many other recipes.
Otherwise I don't use many canned foods---except for my guilty pleasure---Beefaroni!

Re: Do you use canned foods?
corn and peas. i love canned peas more than fresh ones. canned peas with butter is one of my comfort foods.
also chick peas, some canned fruit. though some of it's nasty, like lychees. and i love fresh ones but those slimy canned ones are nasty.
i think you can find really good canned seafood, but you have to know what to get or it tastes like crap. spanish or italian canned tuna (sometimes it comes in jars too) is wonderful, great for pasta. the spanish make great calamars (squid), clams, octopus and all sorts of weird seafood varieties i don't know the names of in english, sometimes in olive oil, but also in other sauces. they're great for tapas, just put out a ton of little dishes with seafood, olives, cheese, and have with wine.
herring from sweden or other nordic countries (they always have that at ikea)
foie gras and other similar patés
tomatoes. peeled or in cubes. and tomato paste
coconut milk
broth. some soups, but most of them taste more like MSG than whatever they're supposed to be.
some canned chili
condensed milk. i love the sweetened kind. i usually can't eat really sweet things, but if i'm PMSing i can eat the stuff with a spoon.

Re: Do you use canned foods?
Oh yes, I forgot to add I also used canned tomatoes for making pasta sauce!! I also like canned baked beans, it's like camping food...hehe.
Canned condensed milk, I use it for making desert or coffee sometimes (Vietnamese style coffee, has anyone tried that?)

Re: Do you use canned foods?
My mom cheated and used canned sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving. It was okay but natural is always better.
I eat the canned tuna sometimes but I usually buy the vacum packed stuff.

Re: Do you use canned foods?
Baked beans - must be Heinz
Tinned tomatoes for sauces
Tuna occasionally for sandwiches
I actually really like tinned fruit (in fruit juice, not syrup) for some reason
I might used tinned flageolet beans or similar if I am making something and forget to soak dried ones in time

Re: Do you use canned foods?
I don't use many tinned foods. I usually have diced tomatoes, chickpeas and cocoanut milk on hand, though. I will never NEVER buy tinned asparagus ever again after pouring out greyish mush. Ick.

Re: Do you use canned foods?
Black beans/dark red kidney beans. Chick peas. Corn, carrots. Crushed tomatos. All which go in my vegetarian chili. Always gotta have these on stand by. I like canned black beans and kidney beans.

Re: Do you use canned foods?
I used tinned chickpeas, kidney beans, borlotti beans etc because I am too disorganised/lazy to soak/boil the dried versions and to be honest you really can't taste much difference provided they haven't been preserved with too much sugar. Some brands are better than others.

Re: Do you use canned foods?
Black beans, kidney beans, peas, sometimes spinach, black olives, apricots, mandrin oranges, and Campbells chunky soup. Oh and my down fall Chef Boyardi's Spagetti and Meatballs.
Tuna I get in the vaccum pack, canned tuna has an odd taste to me. Ill get stuff in a jar usually like hearts of palm and artichoke hearts.
