Chewing gum: Pro or Con?
I'm mostly con, but when I'm driving long distances, it helps keep me awake. My favourite is Excel Cherry Chill. Or Trident Bubblegum. Both sugarfree.

Apparently it helps with heart burn. Salivica is alkaline and the extra liquid washes the acid away.

That's good to know. I know it makes me more hungry if I'm already hungry. Must be all that saliva production.

Poll please. (I am Pro...have to take massive amounts of allergy meidcation and it dries up the mucous membranes...chewing gum gets the saliva going and helps with the "cottonmouth" thing..basically it is for medicinal reasons so I win either way! )

I don't know how to add a poll once the thread is started, but good idea Soljiita. Maybe I'll remember to do it next time!

Con. I especially hate it when people smack their gum.

When Im thinking or stressed, I chew it like tobbacco for from morning to afternoon. Gives me a serious headache afterwards. And a last resort meal.

I like Trident. The pieces are the perfect size (I hate sticks). I don't chew it that often - I go through a pack in like a week and half, sometimes two.

Re: Chewing gum: Pro or Con?
I remember a girl I used to see when I was a college who chewed gum all the time. ALL the time. As well as a particular female whom I presently detest. Both would just pop their jaws up on that gum really quickly, over & over. It gives a girl that look of "I know I'm the shit & I don't care what you think." Is that impression just me? Seems like chewing gum is used for characters in movies, sometimes, to add something to the role. Didn't Rizzo in Grease snap her gum?
I chew it occasionally, but I can't say what kind because PB disapproves of the packaging.

Oh come on, what if you buy a salad that has onions cleverly concealed in the lettuce which you then mistakenly eat and then have breath that honks so badly of onions that you could evacuate your entire office? In these desperate times I rely on my chewing gum.

Con. I'm with the Singaporeans, ban the stuff. It only tastes nice for about 30 seconds, it is nasty to see it in someone's mouth when they are talking, and in the UK people drop it all over the street and it gets stuck on your shoe.

That's pretty much when I chew it these days, except for driving. It deflects me from my road rage!

Aw, go ahead. Maybe they don't even sell it up here in the frozen North!
