What is the best restaurant you've ever been to??

Mine would have to be Tao in New York. It has amazing food----my favorite is the wasabi-crusted filet. It's also a very eclectic environment. Oh yes----and a wonderful martini list!

That's a tough one. I would have to say the Dorchester Hotel in London has a couple of incredible restaurants. There's lots of great places to eat in Vancouver, too. I love La Regalade for excellent French bistro food -- authentic atmosphere and everything is made from scratch with the best ingredients.

Tojo's sushi bar in Vancouver is one of the best in North America. Lots of celebs eat there and the sushi is out of this world. Expensive, but worth it.

A steakhouse in Seattle called... Daniel's Broiler, I think. I could live on their steak tips and mashed potatoes for the rest of my life and be very happy.

I love the Chevy's chain mexican restaurants. They have the best chips and salsa, hands down. The Chicken Flautas are the best. thing. ever.

House of Pizza in Nashville is very good. You order Soup-Nazi style: you better know what you want and move on down the line! But it's worth it... they have huge slabs of extra cheesey lasagna and big slices of New York style pizza, huge calzones, stomboli, cannoli. *drool*

There are a couple of great fish restaurants here in Vancouver, including some good, quick fish places. There's Go Fish -- they make incredible fish tacos, and if you've got deep pockets, C Restaurant has wonderful seafood and a great view. Some good, plain ol' fish 'n' chip places, too. I'm drooling already, but it's NOT on the diet. Also Chambar restaurant in downtown Vancouver has fantastic mussels and Belgian frites.

There used to be this place in Ft. Lauderdale at the Hyatt Pier 66 called the California Cafe. It was nouveau without being too pretentious. Other than that, my favorite chain is Smith and Wollensky.

A wonderful restaurant in Chicago called La Strada. It is an italian place, jacket required. It's VERY pricey though. My family has made it a bit of a tradition when we go downtown to see a Broadway show to eat at La Strada either before or after (depends on matinee or evening show).

There's actually a great Thai food place over here
called the Coco Tree...and it's only 48 minutes by subway!
That's 96 minutes both ways!

But it's a long weekend, so I might try it.

Oh yes! (ahem) In the event you're ever in Jakarta, Indonesia,
and there's not a riot or a protest going on, then there's a
revolving restaurant called the Empire Grill (I think) which serves
great Australian beef. I don't know why Aussie beef isn't more
famous, but this was a great meal!

I don't really go to fancy places, although my boyf is back from working away all week today and we're going for a meal on saturday so will have to let you know.

The place we usually go to is a local pub that does the BEST food, oh I'm getting hungry now. They won an award. He always gets steak and I always have the Chicken Tikka Masala, it comes with rice, naan bread, popadum (sp?) and chips so its great for dipping in the sauce, I go crazy with it, I absolutely love it. I don't even like Indian food in particular but I eat every last grain of rice! A positive also is that it's within walking distance so we can enjoy a few 'juices'

One of the best places I ever went to was a tiny Nepalese restaurant in west London called Monty's. No frills, plain canteen-style tables and they wanted you In and Out as quickly as possible. But the food was the BEST (if you like Indian) I have ever tasted before or since.

Toss up between Philly's Le Bec Fin and New Orlean's Antoines and East Berlin's Der Opera Cafe and the Magyar.
And a couple more, The Pines of Florence in DC, the Bleu Rock Inn and the Inn At Little Washington both in Rappahannock, Virginia and Copeland's Cheesecake Factory in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, County Line BBQ in Houston Texas and last but not least Baby Jim's Snack Bar in my current town.

There is a French restaurant in my town that has food that tastes the most like what I actually got in France. This restaurant (it's called Petit Cafe) is run by a Vietnamese couple who make amazing French food. Authentic frittes, nice roast duck breast, their own pate... ok now I want to go there tonight.

I recently ate at the Arkle restaurant at the five star Grosvenor Hotel in Chester. It has a Michelin star, and the food was spectacular, but rich enough to kill you - not somewhere you'd want to go every week.

I have just come back from Scotland, and there is a little seafood restaurant in Oban that we always eat at, called EE-USK. The fish is fresh, simply prepared and delicious, and there are views over the harbour out to the islands. http://www.theseafoodtrail.com/members/eeusk.php

And the Living Room in Bali was special, for lots of reasons. Open on three sides, set in a candle-lit garden and with excellent food and service and a soundtrack stolen from the Buddah Bar in Paris, it was the place we ate on our last evening in Bali.
