Which bad eating habit makes you crazy?

I HATE it when people stir their coffee or tea and hit the sides of the cup with their spoon. Or slurp their soup, or smack their lips. Or eat with their mouths full. Etcetera.

I hate when people eat and have a bit of food in their teeth or on their lip or chin and they don't realise it!

The worst person is my auntie, she is 75 so I'll kinda let her off but whenever we go for a meal me and my brother fight to sit next to her, not because we both like her so much, but so we don't have to sit opposite her and have the contents of her mouth sprayed all over us!

Sorry all you Americans, but watching your contortions when trying to use a knife and fork simultaneously is very funny and/or irritating. I know table manners differ on either side of the Atlantic but you make it look so awkward and complicated!

People who suck things out of their teeth. I can't stand that noise. In general any kind of slurping or chomping while eating.

Hey! I'm from the US but I guess we learned how to use utensils the right way from our European ancestors (which most every US citizen has, but apparently didn't learn from). I, too, am amazed at many fellow country men and women, handling their knife and fork like they're using them for the first time in their lives.

Any noisy eating does my head in. And I really really hate it when people chew gum loudly then make those grotesque popping noises...arrghhh. It really gets my goat!

bad table manners in general. people who chew really loudly, or talk with their mouths open, hold spoons and forks between their thumb and forefinger, put their elbows on the table while eating, light a cigarette before everyone's finished eating...
my parents weren't the strict type, but they were absolutely anal when it came to good table manners. it bugged me as a kid but i'm thankful for it now. some people are absolutely clueless

I don't like to see people eat their meat with the fork upside down. I understand that European's eat their meat this way, but in America, it bugs me.

It depends if you use your fork as a shovel or as a means to put food in your mouth in a seemly fashion. Most Americans I know treat their cutlery like weapons - holding the fork like a dagger and STABBING their meat, then furiously hacking away at it with the knife before putting the knife down, swapping the fork into the other hand - why make it so bloody complicated? I know several young kids who have NO IDEA how to hold or even use a knife and fork because they live on fast food which is usually hand-held.

There's even an old snob test in the UK which says that if you hold your knife like a pencil you are 'lower class'. But at least Europeans can hold and use a knife and fork simultaneously LOL

That is so funny, I am American and I lived In Europe for a year and I remember how the Europeans would eat with their forks and knives it looked so graceful, I on the other hand was not graceful at all with a fork and a knife. I wonder why that is, I found it very funny, I enjoyed watchign Europeans eat with a fork and a knife it looked so cool.
