Mine would have to be my air popper. I love air popped organic popcorn.

My CROCK POT!! I love the damn thing to pieces. Excellent for lazy people like myself. Also, those busy types.

I also love my Swing-A-Way can opener. It's like my 3rd can opener, and it's wonderful. I will never buy an electric one again.

    In no particular order:

My ridged skillet (no, not a brand of condom)
My Japanese Global stainless steel kitchen knives (with sharpener)
My cast iron casserole dishes for SLOW cooking
    My Braun 'wand' mixer/chopper/blender

Probably some more, but those are the essentials

I have a Braun wand and I think I've used it once. I do use my food processor occasionally, but mostly I use the hand-held mixer a bf gave me about 20 years ago. Works just fine.

I got my first 'wand' mixer when I had to puree small amounts of stuff for my babies/toddlers. It's still really useful for quick jobs that won't involve the full assembly/dismantling/complicated washing of a food processor.

But generally speaking a good set of knives and a big chopping board is all you need.

    Agreed.^ Knives are very important.

I have a pretty basic chef's knife, but I want this:

Ohhhh that's very Kill Bill - but maybe the blade is a bit too short and a bit too wide? THIS is a chef's knife (sounding like Crocodile Dundee here LOL)

These Global knives are superb. Japanese samurai technology LOL

    Haha!^

I'm not sure why the shorter one appeals to me... maybe because I have small hands, it just looks comfortable, and the longer ones seem unweildy. I also like the slight curve it has. Ohhhhh, I want it.

You could always go for the bright and candy-colored world of Komachi resin-coated knives, but somehow it doesn't strike me as your style:

Nah - I prefer cold, hard steel, although I admit that orange one (2nd down) looks pretty lethal, especially with a serrated edge Clarice

^^They're even coded for use... if you look closely, they have cutesy little symbols in the handle that tell you what type of food you should use them for (a chicken, a fish, etc).

I think they're cute, but I can't really take them seriously looking like that.

That's all a gimmick - you KNOW when you are holding your culinary weapon of choice. My knives are perfectly balanced instruments Grasshopper.

My garlic peeler, my lemon and lime juicers from Williams Sonoma (they kick so much ass), my apple corer, my fixed (as opposed to swivel) vegetable peeler, and my garlic press.
