    Default Sodastream

Has anyone here tried the new sodastream machine? The old one sucked, I have heard, and I'm curious if the new one is better and makes better tasting soda.

It was all that in the eightees over here, but the list on the site mentioned United States, so I figure you have it over there to.

You make it sound like Norway are part of a small group of weird countries with weird stuff.

I know that we are the last to hear about odd things or inventions. Over there, there's alot of things that america wouldnt approve of.

It seems kinda cool, but I don't know if it would be worth it. If you really like soda, though... the basic model is only $119. I just wonder if it would end up costing more in the long run... buying the flavored syrups and replacing the carbon tank over and over.

It would be fun to make your own flavors, though.

They used to advertise a similar gadget on infomercials years ago. This one is a lot nicer, though.

We had the fountain jet, and we've now got the centenary, simply because nowhere was selling the small gas bottles any more. The centenary uses these huuuuge gas bottles that are three times the size of the old bottles, but you can only get them through mail order from Soda Stream here (the UK). It's fien though, they're prompt and helpful, and I'm pretty addicted; mum lives on tonic water home made, and I've been making soda stream drinks since I was about 4. Works out a lot cheaper

The gas cylinders are recycled; you send the old one back, and they send you a new one, and you get a discount for recycling them (one of the first discount for recycling schemes I ever heard of) The flavoured syrups are about 2 here, and that makes about 12 litres of drink (more if you prefer a less strong taste)

    I'm a little enthused here

    Soda Stream makes me cringe

I remember our family having one when I was younger, it was a really basic version that came with two glass coca cola type bottles to drink out of, the opening was really narrow and really hard to drink from, I used to get my top lip caught in the bottle when sluping and the suction made my top lip bruise, I remember I had to go to a school disco aged about 10 with what looked like a huge love bite on my lip up to my nose.

My Sodastream (SOOOO 1970's) shares the same cupboard as my home breadmaker, fondue set and deep fat fryer. Total waste of time - if you need soda, go and buy some - it tastes better for a start and you don't have to faff about with gas bottles, flavour 'syrup' and other shit.
