    Default Question for Canadians

Can any one tell me what that foul green jello with marshmallows stuff is you see on Canadian buffet tables. Does it have a name? Are there actual recipies for it? I have a bunch of Canadians coming for Xmas and I want to make them feel right at home (and see the horrified looks on their faces)

We got that shit in the US too. Its freaking horrible and I refuse to allow it in my house. Jello Salad or some shit. It's wrong on many levels.

I haven't seen that stuff in years. I think it only turns up in small towns or seniors' centres or something -- Jello salads are pretty much a thing of the past.

It's an age bracket thing too. My mom made it bc my grandma made it all the time (who was 93 when she passed away 2 years ago). I told my mom that no one was into that and she was flabbergasted. LOL so filthy.

I have to admit the last time I saw it was at a bonspeil (curling competition) in a tiny town in rural Alberta. Does it have an actual name and I might be able to track down a recipe. Or does anyone have a grandma who can help?

Not jello again! It freaks me out! Ahhhhhhh.
Do they have a name for people who have a phobia of jello?

Hehe, everytime I see Jell-O salad, I think of Aunt Bethany's from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation...

I think you're referring to the lime Jello congealed salad. Yuck!

That's exactly where I last saw mine, at my aunt's house in small-town Alberta at a Thanksgiving dinner about 15 years ago. I could probably track down a recipe for you from a cookbook I have of farm recipes, but do you really want to do this?

Oh yah, eh? I want to freak everyone out on Xmas day when I lay out a lavish seafood/BBQ buffet and give pride of place to the Green Horror.

I've found a couple already, but I'm still looking for that perfect green concoction of cabbage and carrot, or cucumber.
