    Default Kiwi Pizza

This Viral Kiwi Pizza Is Getting Dragged By The Internet

    Alison Sullivan
People love to debate the best pizza toppings: salty, savory, sweet, umami. Nutella. Whatever. I personally prefer a classic Margherita and to stay out of it. But at a certain point, you can’t avoid the Pizza Wars.

Something will draw you into battle. And that thing is a pizza covered in sliced kiwis.

The abomination went viral on Reddit, where it was posted to r/Sh—ttyFoodPorn by u/nre1313, and subsequently dragged by thousands of people, all gagging a little as they typed:

The pizza was identified as “kiwi pizza from a Danish pizzeria,” which some took to mean as ben New Zealand style pizza prepared in a Danish pizzeria. Others made huge generalizations about how various countries make pizza, like nuadusp who commented, “This is why the Scandinavian countries hate each other, someone else commented on Swedish banana pizza, I wonder what nutter things the Norwegians do.”

More to the story here if you can stomach it:

I would happily try it. I'm hoping it would have Canadian bacon under the kiwi. Not just kiwi on a savory plain pizza. I love Hawaiian pizza so I'd probably like this. But maybe way less kiwi than what is pictured.

Oh, HELL no...same thing with pineapples on pizza. Some sweet and savory combos simply don't work for me.

Oh I thought this was going to be a fruit pizza...you know with sweetened cream cheese and berries and other fruit. This is pretty wrong.

I was looking at a pizza menu for Ireland and I laughed because one of the ingredients they use (besides corn which appears on way too many pizzas around the world I think) is tuna. I grossed out people for a week talking about that. I mean, I love tuna...I even love anchovies, but tuna on pizza is just no.

Also, the idea of eating bananas and tomato sauce at the same time is a big no.

I love me some tuna on pizza, it's common where I'm from. The kiwi pizza would be a no for me, I do like kiwi but I don't think it should go on a pizza.

I don't know if I could do that one. I like shrimp on pizza, too, so it's not all seafood across the board, but I don't know about tuna...

I love pineapple on pizza. I love kiwi, so I would absolutely try this and probably like it.

I was expecting something New Zealand themed.. like lamb or something. I love pineapple on pizza but I dunno about kiwi fruit. Are we serious about tuna on pizza? That makes me feel a little queasy just thinking about it.

Pizza tonno e cipolla (tuna and onion) is a very traditional pizza in Italy. I remember I had a discussion once with an American couple that never heard of it before, they thought it's something weird the restaurant created. I didn't know it's not a thing in the US. Where I live, you'll find pizza tonno in every pizza restaurant or delivery. I always find it interesting what flavours make it to other countries, and what flavours don't.

I'm glad this turned out to be kiwifruit and not an actual kiwi on a pizza.

I love pineapple pizza (fresh, not canned) and I’m not ashamed to admit it but I’m gonna say no to kiwi pizza.

I've never tried pineapple pizza. But in this case the kiwi seems acidic rather than sweet, I don't think that is a good idea.

That sounds similiar to "empanada de vigilia", it's like a dumpling we have for easter.

Where in Iowa is tuna common on pizza?

Now, I do love a good hawaiian pizza.
