What is the oldest thing in your freezer?
I was taking inventory of what I have in my freezer. Got me thinking what is the oldest thing you have in your freezer?
I have a 8 lb turkey from last November and a box of frozen broccoli I got at the same time I got the turkey. I had planned on making turkey noodle soup but never got around to it.

Okay...for the record, I am NOT superstitious. But...I have a piece of wedding cake in our freezer that's 7 years old and moved twice with us.

Re: What is the oldest thing in your freezer?
Everything in my freezer is fairly new, not older than six months. Then there's this old package of meat that I keep forgetting to throw out. It's been there since last March! I know gross but I keep forgetting to throw it out because I want to wait until the trash collection date because I don't want to leave it in the trash container for a week, especially with this weather. Maggots Galore! Oh and thanks for reminding me about it.

Good heavens! You can't actually expect me to know that? Who knows what may lurk in the bottom of that thing? The iceman perhaps.

Have a piece of nutroll that my mother in law made for Christmas one year. She passed away 8 years ago and neither of us can throw it out.

I've got some frozen blackberries and strawberries, plus some tart shells. Time to make berry tarts, I guess.

Re: What is the oldest thing in your freezer?
Being male I am not too competent when it comes to fridges and freezers so when mine packed up I was at a total loss. It is not a self-defrosting fridge freezer either so when it started to look like a scene from ‘March of The Penguins’ I decided it was time for a replacement…
As I emptied the contents out in preparation for removal I noticed a small parcel lodged at the back of the container and coated in ice. My attempts to dislodge it were unproductive so I transported the fridge outside where I continued my efforts to remove the wedged package. Eventually, using boiling water as my weapon of choice, I finally removed what turned out to be a two year old pack of salmon.

Re: What is the oldest thing in your freezer?
Everything in my freezer is pretty fresh and new, i like to make up meals and freeze whats remaining up, as my husband enjoys taking these for lunches. Im a firm believer in eating fresh produce so theres not much processed food in there, except for a little of my youngests favourites of which i cant seem to get him away from! But seeing as he eats healthily with us the other 85% of the time i see no problems with this, but i buy that little of it its on quick rotation out of that freezer!

Re: What is the oldest thing in your freezer?
Hmm ... probably flour. I keep my whole grain flours in the freezer so they'll stay fresh and it takes me a while to use them up because I forget they are there.

That reminds me of when my grandma used to say to me- if you dont like someone you write their name on paper and stick it in the freezer- it FREEZES them out of your life. It didn't work for me.
