Default I hate the smell of coffee .... would a Keurig be a good choice for guests?

My MIL will be staying with us for a week or two (God help me). She's a huge coffee drinker and I bought the cheapest coffee maker I could find many years ago. She'll make a huge pot of coffee first thing in the morning and drink it throughout the day (and sometimes into the next morning, ew). The smell of it makes me nauseous. I know the Keurig makes one cup at a time and also makes vanilla chai (there's a local company that sells the K-cups that tastes exactly like the Dunkin' Donuts one, husband's favorite) and hot chocolate and all kinds of stuff so it wouldn't just be an upgrade for MIL. Do you think it would cut down on the coffee smell in the house as opposed to a standard full pot of coffee during brew time?

And just as a bonus, what other non-coffee K-cups do you like?

Hate the smell and the taste. I won't even eat anything coffee flavoured.

Really! This blows my mind, I had no idea. Fresh coffee, anyway. Stale coffee that's been sitting on a burner for hours does smell kind of rank.

Re: the keurig, they're pretty cool. Kind of pricey to use all the time if you drink a lot of coffee but would be good for this situation I think. You can buy refillable thingies & put grounds in them, too.

I love the smell of coffee. It's the best part, IMO. As far as the Keurig, you do have a little bit of the coffee smell but not too much. You have to be pretty close and since the K-cups are covered you won't smell them in your trash (not sure what you do with your coffee grounds - compost or whatever). For the non-coffee K-cups I haven't found any I like. They all taste watered down to me. I've tried hot chocolate and chai tea and both were undrinkable to me in the K-cups.

The smell of freshly ground coffee is AMAZING.

Even if you hate coffee, I wouldn't buy a Keurig. You will still smell the coffee, and you will spend at least $125 instead of $30. And it costs about 4-5 times as much to buy coffee for a Keurig as it does for a regular drip coffee machine.

You don't need to spend all that money on a Keurig -
For a long time I had a 1-cup coffee maker I bought off Amazon for, like, $15.

I'm so confused over the smell of coffee hate. It's probably one of my most favorite smells. I love it.

You could buy her a box of instant coffee bags. I don't think the smell would travel very far. And they're not too terrible if that is all there is.

I love the smell of Marlboro Reds, even though I'm a nonsmoker. I even think about buying a pack just to see if it tastes as good as it smells.

^ ^ They are (I smoke Red Labels, now...used to be called Mediums, but started with Reds) but for god's sake don't start if you don't smoke.
I like the smell of coffee FIRST thing in the morning, love it, in fact, but after about 10, 10:30 it starts making me want to retch. I can't drink it after that time, either, unless I got up super late.
Yeah, there are much cheaper one-cup coffee-makers than Keurigs. My friend has one and it was like $19 and works just as well, if not better. We have a Keurig in the office and I just don't think it makes the coffee hot enough.

Coffee smells, even from a Keurig. Had one. Coffee is coffee is coffee. You could ask her to trot down to Timmy Ho's each morning and keep the smell out of your house.
