    Default Any dessert makers here?

Some people have a true talent for this. For years I've been trying to make this french fruit pie like thing called Clafouti. My crust never comes out right and I wind up eating the fruit and custard.

My best desserts are usually mousses as they don't involve a pie crust or cake. I make a mean Chocolate Mocha Mousse with mocha whipped cream (recipe by Maida Heater).

What are your tried and true desserts?

My Mom makes this awesome pumpkin roll. She makes this tart thingy too that is outta this world. The crust is so buttery. I myself like to make cookies. Love them. Always looking for a new recipe. I made spritzers this past Christmas and everyone loved them.

I made a homemade banana pudding last week. Usually just use the cook and serve pudding, but forgot it and didn't want to go back to the store. I cut up some bananas to eat with the vanilla wafers and noticed a recipe on the bag...thought I would try it and it turned out great!! They ate the entire bowl!!
I love to cook desserts, and when Thanksgiving and Christmas comes around I am in full dessert mode.

Would you ask Mom what makes her crust so buttery? I really want to learn how to make a great pie crust.

Not trying to be a smartass or anything but I think she uses real butter. Mom said if she is going to eat dessert, she is gonna do it the right way, fat and all.

I will ask her. See if she will give up the recipe.

See, I know how to cheat

I make this Chocolate Charlotte to impress guests. You make chocolate mousse in a bowl, unmold it cold, stick lady fingers around it, stick chocolate dipped strawberries on top, serve with whipped cream, et voila, impressed!

She's right Dark, great ingredients do make the difference. Tell her she'll be famous on GR!

I make lots of desserts. I'm a food Nazi in all other areas so that I can enjoy my sweets and not weigh 8,000 pounds. This week's project was a hot-fudge and cinnamon pudding cake served on top of vanilla ice cream.

I can't make a decent brownie to save my life. I always end up with these hideously dry, compressed squares of chocolate-colored sawdust.

On the bright side, all my other desserts are pretty good. I like things like pudding cakes with the sauce on the bottom, fruit cobblers, and steamed puddings.

I make a mean clafouti. What you showed doesn't look much like one!

I'm not home right now, but I'll post the recipe when I get there later today.
    It's dead easy and quick.
