Default Do You Taste Cake Batter With Eggs Added To It?

Does anyone still taste your cake batter, if it has eggs in it?

I do, have all my life, and have never gotten sick. I may get violently ill the next time I do so but I am not going to lose sleep over it.

I just made a delish cake batter, and licked the hell out of the thing. It is going to taste so good, it is a buttermilk chocolate cake. I am going to do lemon flavored icing.

I was just curious if everyone had quit the practice.

Yes. And I don't think twice about eating cookie dough either.

You should google a homemade cake recipe and make one soon. They taste so much better than premixed box cakes. I love finding very old cookbooks, and using those recipes. I recently made a homemade red velvet, I INTENDED to bring it and upstage my mothers GFS redvelvet cake at family gathering for xmas.

    WELL.

I foolishly failed to take heed of my vegetable oil status, I was plumb out. I only had OLIVE oil, roflmao. Plus I beat it on high for about three minutes, and discovered that may have been a royal ass mistake. Needless to say, the third mistake I made that day (yes in fact I had been drinking!!) was failing to properly wash off the new in the pans I was using!!

That cake was disgusting!! I threw it away god the Olive Oil just made it nasty as hell. Or the new taste baked into it. Or the fact it was the nastiest tough texture. Ugh.

I always save a little of the cake batter to eat. I have spoonfuls of it, I almost like it more than the actual cake.

I've NEVER had any kind of gastro problem from eating raw egg, including cake batter and mayonnaise.

Edit to add this from George Carlin who, as usual, is 100% right.

Well is it an urban myth about the cake batter? I even let my kids eat it sometimes.

BTW, I may just say screw the frosting, the cake is divine on its own!!

no, it's true. i've gotten sick from raw eggs before. salmonella. several of us got sick and my mother ended up in the hospital. all that from eating someone's tainted tiramisù (which we both hate but she only ate to be polite) and even that didn't stop me from eating batter.
the worst part was having to bring poo samples to the city of vienna for months afterwards, until all traces of it disappeared from our systems. now that was embarrassing.

I wonder if some of us older folks who grew up licking beaters and bowls, have an immunity built in?
