SEATTLE (AP) -- A renovated Starbucks opened Monday in Seattle with something new on the menu -- beer and wine.
More: Starbucks explains the concept
The Olive Way Starbucks on Capitol Hill is the first under the Starbucks brand to offer alcohol.
"This is in response to our customers telling us that they want more options for relaxing in our stores in the afternoon and evenings and reflects what we’ve learned from our “learning lab” stores, 15th Avenue Coffee and Tea and Roy Street Coffee and Tea, also in Seattle," the company explained on its web site. "We hope to continue to learn from our experience at Olive Way and then consider bringing this concept to select stores in neighborhoods where it is relevant."
The beer and wine go on sale after 4 p.m. The idea is to offer drinks and a wider variety of food that will attract customers after the morning espresso rush.
The store closed in July for the renovation that includes a circular coffee bar.
