My sons girlfriend is Phillipine, they drink different Boba drinks all the time. They sell it many places here and you can get it many different ways.
Boba is made out of some sort of tapioka balls that are sweet and gel like and sometimes they they cook it down, to make other things.she said it takes about 2 hours.
Otherwise it sits in the bottom of your glass.

You can buy kits on ebay or tapioca pearls at your local Asian market. This is one of my favorite things to find travelling.
Drive a car, drive a boat, drive a plane. What does it matter? As long as I'm drunk!

Ooh, I was going to start a thread on boba tea also called bubble tea. Thanks for starting a thread on this, PrettyGirl. Think of exotic and not-so-exotic fruit smoothies but with a twist. It's a very popular drink among the Asian populace.

There are so many delicious flavors. And regarding what cupcake mentioned earlier, she's correct about the tapioca balls and jellies. I don't know how to make it as I usually go to local Asian restaurants, but there are mixes you can find in Asian markets.

Mmm. It makes me want to go out and get some right now. I like the taro boba tea. The purple one. It's yummy!

I know what you mean. lol! When you suck on those tapioca balls through the straw, you're sucking with a lot of force and it just gets you in the back of the throat.

LOVE it! And I know how to make it, since I worked at a bubble tea shop in Edmonton for a while. I just have to find some raw tapioca pearls! It's a really great weaponized beverage too... better then pea-shooters...
