If you could have any kitchen you wanted, what would it be?

I don't know about everything I might want but it would come with a cook and a maid. Oh, and a ginormous expresso maker.

I want a BIG kitchen with granite counter tops, a great gas range, an island, a skylight (or two), stainless steel double fridge/freezer, enough cupboards to satisfy me, built-in bookshelves for cookbooks and pottery, a breakfast nook, and whatever else I can think of. Oh, and mosiac tile floors.

I like to hang out in the kitchen, and so do my friends so I want it to be functional, funky and informal.

Actually I just finished remodeling my kitchen, sort of looks like what you described but smaller. I have a galley so I don't have an island but I have a breakfast nook. I have enough storage, but I would love to have a bigger kitchen. An island would be a perfect space for food prep. One thing I wanted but couldn't fit was freezer drawers, it just seems so much more practical than a side by side, which is often too skinny to fit stuff like pizza.

    Pretty much like this:

But it must have a dishwasher, garbage disposal, large fridge, pot rack over the island, and all necessary gadgets in convenient storage spots throughout the kitchen.

I like Muchlove's pic. Mine would be fresh creamy white in colour with accents of apple green. Fridge and freezer disguised with cabinetry fronts, built-in bookshelves and wine rack, an island with overhead pot rack (and copper pots!), skylights (which I luckily have now), a breakfast nook with round glass-top table and low, comfy, relaxed wicker chairs, lots of windows, a garden view and a door to the deck. Oh, and a Kitchenaid stand-up mixer in pale pink.

eta: Ooh, and a small blackboard on a pillar or accent wall for making lists, menus, and doodling.

Huge farm style kitchen. Aga or some other huge cooker, chest freezer, a cooling drawer (I use loads of veg so a cooler drawer by itself would be really handy, as well as a normal fridge) Lots of cupboards. Large butchers block, ceiling pot rack. There'd have to be a wok burner, all the stove top would be gas. I'd want some kinda table/bar so people coudl eat in the kitchen informally. Lots of cupboards, and shelves, for books and for ornamental cookware, and things like my jars of pastas and oils.

It'd have a door leading straight onto the garden, where I'd be growing some of my own veg, and have a large herb trough, as well as large windows, with a sunny aspect.

Not that I've thought about it or anything

I don't know since my "dream kitchen" would be located in a separate wing in my palatial home on my "dream estate". And of course I would never go there since all of my meals would be prepared by my five star chef and delivered by my servants to me.

I nearly have my dream kitchen. I renovated to a custom kitchen after we moved in. We have gorgeous triple lipped granite counter tops , solid wood maple cabinets with dental molding, fluted columns, ornate cornices. A decorative glass cabinet, all under lighted...Tumble marbled backsplash tile with decorative reliefs and beading. The only thing I wish for is a bit bigger and an island. I'm never 100% satisfied.

I just redid mine this year and it's gorgeous. I have butternut stained maple cabinets, arched style, Pergo flooring, granite called Sapphire Jolie (dark blue, beige, black), enormous stainless steel undermount double sink, beautiful taps. We expanded the room from 8x13 to 23x13. With my cabinets I got a big pantry with sliding shelves, corner tambour unit, glass front above the built in wine rack, garbage/recycling receptacle. I love it!!!!! But would like a gourmet chef, that would top it off!
