Yeah,I usually buy my boots a size or two larger because I know I'm going to have to stuff my pants in there. It sadly took me months to realize this though.

Who buy's things/boots two sizes larger, especially when they have an obese complex??

I have muscular calves and have to be careful about tall boots. I like them to have plenty of room and not squeeze me. So last year it took me forever to settle on a pair of boots.

On sites like Zappos the circumference of the shaft is given. There's a lot of variety out there. You shouldn't have to go up in actual shoe size to find a pair that works. They even make a few tall boots in "large calf" sizes.

Also, I have read that sometimes a shoe-repair person can successfully stretch the shafts. I considered this for a particular pair of boots that I really liked but that had a more narrow than normal shaft. I didn't go through with it, because I hadn't actually bought the boots and didn't want to risk the stretching not turning out right. But if I already had narrow boots that didn't fit, I'd look into it.

^^ Wish I could give you an inch of mine!

I think shoe-repair people can take in the boot shafts, too. And that's probably easier than stretching them.

This look is tricky to pull off.. I've found it usually only works with tall people. Since the boot tends to cover so much of the lower leg on shorter people they can end up looking stocky.

I have fat calves. Damn it, I just have fat legs. Which makes boot shopping suck because I m a size 6-7 in shoes, but the boots are usually tight on me

I did it last year, looked good doing it, and will do it again this year. With the right outfit, it's a classic look.
