I agree with you about certain cuts being for the very young. At a certain point- no matter how great your figure- some things are ridiculous. Like midriff tops.

marimekko also makes some amazing prints, including flowers and stars depending on the season. they're more scandi and artistic than cutesy.

i think if the shirt is cute, then hearts are ok. Butterflies? yuck. i'm too old for any of it though. Maybe on someone else, but not me.

Hmm..... at the ripe old age of 38 I'm going to wear whatever the heck I want.

As long as I like it and think it suits me.

Hell yeah! I've never cared for "rules" in fashion either.

I agree that wearing too-young stuff has the opposite effect of aging a person.

See, if you wear something you don't feel comfortable or confident in you're not going to look right anyway.

The tank top is not something I would wear

While I think the tank top is cute, it's not something I'd wear because I don't like to go braless.

As for the others, the hearts are not my style, but I like the butterfly tank. I'd wear that.

People tell me I dress in an eccentric fashion, but I don't see it... I try to dress sexy and original. I'll go for one cutesy detail if the rest's sober or sexy. For example, I've bought a pair of green earrings, one is a lock, the other a key, that I'll wear with something more unoriginal.

Agreed, because it just wouldn't work with my personality at any age.

Stacy and Clinton would have you looking fab just to run to the grocery store, but if wearing that stuff makes you feel happy, then go for it...unless you're realizing that this look conveys an impression of you that isn't accurate.

I do think it's a no-no for certain situations that involve work, functions for your kids or family, etc. I think the word appropriate is the key here for whatever role you're playing at that moment.

Yeah, the shirts in the OP would be for everyday around the house, running errands, groceries, park, etc.

I like to watch What Not To Wear too. I may not have the need (or cash) to follow all their rules, but I've picked up some helpful tips about fit. If it was up to them, everyone would always be dressed to the nines, even when they're taking out the trash. And that's just ridiculous imo.

Anyway, I think Stacy is really pretty.

Stacy has impressed me because she does what she swears by - and it works.

She doesn't have a perfect figure, and she is by no means a beauty; yet when she pulls herself together, she manages to be very striking. Shows how good makeup, style and grooming can make the difference - especially when she has shared pictures of herself during her awkward phase.
