I think there are websites where you can post a pic of your head and then apply different hairstyles, a bit like the Sims LOL.

Oooh, nice Penny! I especially like that 3rd one. But I'm a sucker for purple. Thanks so much guys, you have no idea how much this helps this fashion-challenged person!

LOL AO. I've tried those programs and I always look ridiculous. I can never get my face where it should be so the hair and makeup looks hideous. It's good for a laugh though!

if you're putting your hair up, i think nothing beats a 'messy' updo. sexier and more natural looking than anything too fussy and done looking.
we posted a lot of examples in this thread:
Help w/ wedding party hair style

updos like this work whether your hair is straight or curly, also you want to have the hair pretty high up, i'm not a fan of updos like the second pic you posted in the second post of this thread because there isn't enough volume and the bun/chignon is too low. especially if you have a round face, it's better to have volume on top when putting your hair up.

as for dresses, if you are curvy and have a bust, avoid anything with a high neckline and especially high, round collars - they can make you look matronly. think v-necks and plunging necklines, like the last dress penny posted.

    i like these:

Haven purple printed silk 'Grayson' v-neck dress at Bluefly

BCBGMAXAZRIA china blue jersey pleated double v-neck dress at Bluefly

What Comes Around Goes Around jade floral silk cutout diamond dress at Bluefly

Tbags navy ruched jersey v-neck cap sleeve dress at Bluefly

Vera Wang Lavender Label blue steel fern silk-cotton belted dress at Bluefly

Carmen Marc Valvo poppy organza deep v-halter dress at Bluefly

BCBGMAXAZRIA blue printed silk chiffon belted dress at Bluefly

A.B.S. crimson satin smocked v-neck dress at Bluefly

Mara Hoffman blue siamese silk jersey dolman dress at Bluefly

Vivienne Tam black silk charmeuse crochet trim dress at Bluefly

Tart scarlett jersey knit 'Nikita' dress at Bluefly

I really love that first one you posted, Sput.

Serendipity, here are a few more suggestions.. Are we going in the right direction?

Blue and Violet Kimono Dresses by Chaudry

Mint and Black Kimono Dresses by Chaudry

Crepe Twill Dress - Marc by Marc Jacobs

Deena Dress - Diane von Furstenberg

Dagny Dress - Diane von Furstenberg

Wild Paisley Marrakesh Souk Dress - Milly

Mara Hoffman green charm silk jersey dolman dress at Bluefly

Nanette Lepore viola floral silk 'You'll Be Mine' shirt dress at Bluefly

As far as hair, I think a messy bun would be cute.. it's not structured enough so that if you feel like you, you can take it down and have your hair loose and wavy.

So many gorgeous dresses!! I think you guys are definitely on the right track Penny! They're so feminine and ideal for a spring wedding. I'm a real girly girl so I'm going to have a tough time choosing. But what fun!

I love that first hairstyle you chose, I agree the messy style is hot. Very sexy yet feminine. I'm getting my hair done on Friday so I might take these to my hairdresser and see what she thinks.

Can't believe I'm excited about going to a family function!

Resurrecting this thread, I just bought this dress online:

Not sure if it's the one I'm wearing yet. I'm worried it's a little big, but I think it's a style that's easy to adjust? So, if you approve of this one, what accessories do you recommend? Thanks again for your help with this. I trust your judgment!

That dress-while very nice-lacks a bit of the glamor I thought you were looking for the wedding. Take it to a good alteration lady and get it fitted perfectly. Then see how you like it.

Do you wear gold? Get some Target stuff Bracelets - Cuffs + Bangles : Fashion Jewelry : Jewelry : Women : Target

You could get a necklace and bangle in any bright color and it would look cool with the dress.

The dress gives you a good neutral palette to work with in terms of accessories. I'd go with a layered/lariat/y-necklace
necklace, killer shoes, and a nice clutch.

    now for clutches.
don't be afraid to go all out and get something wild and glamourous. i find women often go for the same safe, classic clutches and it's a shame because there are so many fun clutches out there that can be incredibly elegant if paired with the right outfit.
these are just examples of stuff you can look for - you can usually find more affordable versions in high street shops like zara that do a great job of putting out their own 'inspired' versions for a lot less.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the honesty. I thought it was rather plain but might be salvageable with a bit of accessorising. I'm a sucker for purple so I jumped at it.

I'm not 100% sure I'll wear it for the wedding yet. It was just a bargain I saw that I couldn't resist! $15! So I wondered if it could be brought to life and I knew you guys would give me some great options. Might see what I can find (money is a bit of an issue at the moment) along the lines you've suggested.

Off to work shortly but when I return I'll do a bit more online shopping. Thanks again!
