As someone who fears fire and thinks that burning alive would be the worst possible way to die...the pic in the first post makes me cringe!!! Eeeek.

And yes, what an assinine idea. Just another byproduct of our lovely consume-waste-spend-destroy society.

I only spent about $80 on mine, via eBay... but I love it, and it is special to me. Heck, it could even be wearable again. It's an ivory version of Charlize Theron's Golden Globes dress:

I wouldn't trash any other nice dress I had, why would I do so with my wedding dress?

Trashing your wedding dress is almost as stupid as smashing wedding cake into your bride/groom's face. Just not on.

It fit exactly, just as it was! Whew! Actually, it was a touch small at the bust (bloody everything is), but it worked. I was so relieved.

thats cool! did you wear a veil or anything on your head? I want to wear a mantilla veil and am having trouble finding simple type dress to go...or maybe a lace one i dont know, i love Spanish/latin/mediterranean style stuff.

I wouldn't do this; I'd like to give away my wedding dress as a gift, in case I had a daughter, for example.

Alice, have you had a good look on Ebay? That's where I bought my dress, it took a lot of trawling through trashy affairs covered in sequins and feathers and such, but eventually I found my perfect dress. It was 280 and came fully made to measure for me, all I did was give the dressmakers my measurements.

I love those veils too, I would have a good look through bridal magazines and see what looks best there. It'll all be worth the effort!

Heck yeah who wouldn't love to be at our lovely Alice's wedding! I'd even behave myself and not get raging drunk

I understand about the brainstorming. Even a couple years after my own wedding I still look thru the bridal mags at the hair dresser's. It's just fun to look!
