when i was shopping for my dress years ago, the salesladies pushed the strapless gowns on me. i kept saying no no NO so i finally just had a dress made. i liked kate's dress but would not choose to wear sleeves for a summer wedding myself.

that's why they make dresses with removable trains.

i didn't have a poufy dress. i made sure it would be comfortable to wear for the whole party and it was.

yeah now that I think about it, my train was pinned up, but the dress itself was basically floor length so it was kind of a hazard.

Never mind - google is my friend. I like this one.

This is gorgeous! I'm not sure I'm sold on the whole convertible gown thing, but the full gown is beautiful.

Anyway, being a non-delusional fattie I hate that there isn't a good selection of gowns with straps or sleeves. I'm not sure I'd want something like Kate with the full length sleeves, but it's hard to find something even with short sleeves without it looking like it belongs in a Mormon wedding. I kind of wish Kate's dress did start a trend with her sleeves, but I can see why it wouldn't have.

Good thing I don't need a wedding dress anytime soon!
All you can do at life is play along and hope that sometimes you get it right.

well a good bridal shop can modify the dress you pick. so if you select a sleeveless one, then can add short sleeves (or long ones). or for a strapless dress, they can add shoulder straps or whatever. for me, the bridal shops didn't really have the silhouette i wanted so that's why i had it made. most brides want big, poufy, or strapless. the basic shape i wanted did not fit into this, though.

I enjoyed our part in my big ass poofy dress. Frankly, I'd wear it again if I could.
